The Big Picture... DNA undergoes transcription to make mRNA which then undergoes translation to code for a protein!!! 

Transcription: The process by which DNA is copied into mRNA 

Translation: The decoding of a mRNA message into proteins
Translation: the decoding of mRNA message into proteins
